We opted for a private tour because we wanted to have more flexibility, and that’s what we got. We agreed in advance with the tour guide (Maddalena) to have a 4 hours tour, because we wanted to include the St Jerome painting by Leonardo Da Vinci, which is generally ignored by standard vatican tours. Relax with a coffee and take time to soak up the ambience of our peaceful surroundings before you're whisked away for a full tour of the Vatican Museums. Opening times:. The Vatican is not open to visitors on Sundays, and is open from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM Monday to Saturday, with last entrance usually at 3.00 PM.There are some exceptions to this, with late night openings on Friday during the summer, and with some tours offering privileged early access, ahead of normal opening hours. The tour was very good. We enjoyed it but we expected to not be so rushed through our tour.
